Inspired by the recent death of Robin Williams.
Robin Williams seemed to have everything. The money, fame, family, humor..everything. But he was still suffering. He still didnt get the helped that he needed. Why? Why is it that a man that so many revered, and loved and idolized by so many...falls subject to the temptation of suicide to end his suffering?
To me this shows that we are currently NOT providing the citizens of the world with the tools and education they need TO heal themselves. They are expected to suffer alone, quietly, put on a smiling face, take anti-depressants and pretend everything is okay. This is NOT okay. There must be another way to look at this that allows us to understand how some one does that....and also to understand how we dont fall for the same pitfalls in dealing with our own bouts of suffering.
I wanted to bring awareness to the idea of responsibility. We are all responsible for what we think and are equally responsible for the effects of our thinking. This is a good thing. This means we are responsible for the experiences we have within our own consciousness, and so we can change our experience here. If we are not responsible, we then we would be subject to the laws and ways of the world with no hope of escape from them or the suffering that comes from them. Responsibility is our ticket to changing our minds. Changing our minds is our freedom from all kinds of suffering, including the fear of death.
The first step with freeing ourselves from suffering and from fear, is having the willingness to realizing that FEAR is a choice. It is what prevents us from actually LIVING. When the frightened vicious ego, hears that things that happen to us here is a choice, and that maybe even possibly that death is a choice; IT becomes terrified, and defends what it thinks is real. This idea (death is a choice) undoes the idea of "death is real and just happens" from the mind. This creates space, to welcome what IS true instead. As there is a reality of eternity that lies beyond the ideas of birth and death. Although death seems inevitable for the body here, if we look at things from the levels of consciousness and take a glimpse at the Soul, the Life that animates this body... it is the Soul that lasts forever and can cancel out the idea of the fear of death from our minds.
As soon as we realize that "death is a choice", we can begin to ask ourselves some questions about it and see if we can some how, use this idea of death, and that this life here is temporary, for enhancing the quality of our life here. Asking questions opens our mind and makes way for new ideas. New ideas can bring healing of the suffering we carry.
If we are simply open, then this once fearful idea of death can be turned into an opportunity to heal and be honest with ourselves.
Some helpful questions:
- Am I willing to see death and suicide in a new light?
- Am I willing to see that death is not absolute, but that it is a product of my own thinking?
- Am I willing to see myself as part of eternal life, rather than the cycle of human birth & death?
- Am I willing to change my mind about how I use the idea of death?
Now you can see that death is an idea and therefore YOU have a choice as to what to do what this thought "death is a choice":
- Am I going to accept it, reject it, defend against it or openly contemplate it for a while?
We have to do something with the idea because it is an idea....and what you do with it is of your own choosing. If we believe in death and accept it as true, we will eventually experience it; but if we change our minds to the idea of eternal life, and contemplate accepting this idea instead- you will experience the effects of an entirely new thought system. Contemplate and ask for Eternal Life and welcome an entirely new experience here.
Until we understand the tricks that ego uses to distract us from hearing the voice of Reason within us, we will think the loud thoughts in our head that support death are the truth. When in fact, they are only an interpretation of what is true. We learned and accepted all the thoughts in our mind that try to tell us how real death and suffering are. These loud thoughts, stories and images remain ONLY to keep the suffering in-tact and for us not to question its validity. By not questioning these ideas, it keeps the mind ignorant and limited. Until we release the hold we have on our current view of the world, death and our selves- we remain in the position of denying our POWER and RESPONSIBILITY. We are all learning to realize that responsibility is NOT blame, it is indeed our POWER... but humanity has misinterpreted this for a very very long time. Humanity blames each other and the world for our suffering, instead of realizing that suffering is a mental condition. We are responsible in MIND for what we think and can change our MINDS to think NEW and TRUE thoughts.
When we realize we do not know what our true thoughts are, we can ASK for the answer from a Higher Source. Humans know not what Reality IS. Humans think reality is this ball of mass spinning through space that involves tremendous suffering and where life appears to have an end. Humans have forgotten how God has created Life. They need a guide, an inner guide, that remembers for them to help lead them away from death and onto eternal life. Humans like Robin Williams, have not yet become aware of this inner guide. They feel lost, confused, alone and hurt. In this world, there is no answer but more therapy or drug of choice. If neither of those work for you, too bad. There is no more help in this world. When we realize we have to turn elsewhere for an answer, is where our first step into willingness becomes activated. For as long as we are willing to heal our minds and see LIFE differently, we are willing to be happy and live, instead of fear and die. There is hope for humanity in your willingness to see differently,7 for YOU are part of humanity.
What is Suicide?
Lets think of suicide as a call to help; It is a faulty problem solving approach. Robin Williams lived on this earth, played many characters and was known by many. Yet he also lived another life not in front of the camera. One he had to confront and be with everyday. To one who is confused about who he is and has yet to learn of the abiding love and correction available in our minds; would live in pain, and think his only way out of pain is through attack onto another, or in Robin's case an attack on the self. Ego executes this brilliantly under the mental label of "protection" or "release", but it never examines the possibility of a SOLUTION. The ego never looks for a solution. It knows only the problem and it looks to what keeps ITS story of suffering intact. This is the very reason why suffering is optional. As it is a choice of mind. We choose to suffer based on what mind we choose to think with. This is a mere mistake in learning that HAS a correction. We can learn to receive it, as we begin to value the CORRECTION more than the error itself.
Ego is synonymous with fear, and fear is the predominant mind set of humanity. Celebrities are no exception to fear. Fear is mental illness and its effecting every mind on the planet. The only way to change this, is by looking at this idea of death long enough to no longer be afraid of it. This will entail a change of mind in regards to the idea of death. From this change of mind within you, it will extend to embrace and bless the whole world.
An act like suicide asks not for judgement and condemnation... but only for love and compassion. Suicide is a decision of the mind because the mind that is sick believes itself to be the body, and thus the only way to "free" itself, is through this idea of death of the body. It is the last resort to solve the problem yourself; it becomes a "way out". This is a mistake in identity, a mistake in thinking and thus a mistake in action.
We all know Robin Williams as he played many jolly characters and made us laugh through his comedic acts. Humour was his armour to shield him from the world. We all have some form of shield or protection that we think is helping us, but in fact, it is hiding us from the deep pain and abandonment we hold inside. We are often unaware of this suffering within; sometimes we are- either way, ego IS suffering and to be on planet earth you have to have an ego and you will suffer here. What matters, is how we deal with this suffering and that we are NOT an ego. We all go through this process of learning NOT too listen to ego but to listen ONLY to our True Self; and this process is an inner one.
Robin was going through what every other mind at some point in their life goes through. He was conflicted and afraid and did not know where else to turn. We have all been there, he just chose his last resort. I feel that what I am trying to express here most, is that there IS another way. There IS another choice, and this choice brings us peace and peace to all the world through us. This new choice is the choice to heal, to forgive and to see LIFE differently.
Healing & Forgiveness
We can ask our own inner teacher, here in our minds, to speak of a Reality beyond this world, to teach us about Life and about True Happiness. When we ask the Source of Love for the Truth- we are told. And it is only in asking the appropriate Teacher, with the willingness to see a world beyond this one- that we open our eyes to see the gloriousness of the Kingdom of Love & welcome eternal life! The true home of cooperation, abundance and peace for all abides within! This is a state of MIND that can be experienced but only in forgiving the old world and all its folly ideas that you accepted as true for you.
In short, how do we overcome death and suicide?... by making a different mental choice. This can take years of mind training and practice, or an instant of true asking and openness of mind. An instant is all that is needed to remind the mind of what is ALWAYS True.
Letting this miracle replace all grievances, healing our bodies, healing our minds and raising the dead all happen in the instant we let it happen without interfering. "Miracles wait on welcome, not on time" ~ A Course in Miracles.
May we all have the willingness and openness to ask for a miracle of healing grace, to open to receive it, and accept it when it comes. <3
